A Bit About
Autism

If your child or someone you know has been diagnosed with Autism, you are not alone.

Medical Research and Fastest Growing

According to the CDC, 1 out of every 68 children under the age 18 in the U.S. have some form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

It is estimated that as many as 8,500 school age children in Nevada have been diagnosed with ASD, most living right here in the Las Vegas valley area.

Education for parents, teachers and physicians is vitally important in recognizing and treating ASD.

Early diagnosis and treatment can drastically reduce autism symptoms. Most children are diagnosed around age 3, though it is possible to diagnose as early as 18 months.

Minutes and Youth

It is estimated that a new autism diagnosis is given every 20 minutes in the U.S., making it the fastest growing developmental disability in our country.

Despite it’s growth, funding for autism research ranks the lowest behind cancer, diabetes and aids.

The cost is astronomical; on average a family spends $60,000 per year for treatment and care.

Typically, insurance covers only 30-40% of the cost of medical care for a child with ASD.

In Nevada

Many children are never diagnosed or don’t get treatment because parents can’t afford the cost or are unaware of available resources and help with services.

Cost of Care

There is a great need to develop new, inclusive socialization and care programs.

Children with autism require costly specialized care, often one-on-one, by professionals trained in ABA therapies, medical care and special education practices.

Most kids with ASD don’t qualify to participate in after-school programs, day-camps and summer-camps due to the nature of their specialized needs.

Time and insurance

Because children with ASD react differently to social stimulation, many believe that it’s not important that they get to experience these activities. On the contrary, these children would greatly benefit from more social interaction.
The cost of care for families can be greatly reduced by the availability of affordable activities & care for their child.
